Nine days that bring together the highlights of Kenya and Tanzania, with safari first and beach after. From Nairobi you travel to the Maasai Mara and on to the Serengeti in search of the Big Five and, in season, the Great Migration. The Ngorongoro Crater follows, and the trip ends with time to relax on Zanzibar’s unspoilt beaches. Along the way you stay in luxury or mid-range lodges, go out on 4×4 game drives and move between destinations on smooth ground transfers.

Day by day

Arriving in Nairobi

You land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO). We meet you on arrival and take you to your Nairobi hotel. Optional extras: a visit to the Giraffe Centre or the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. Night at Nairobi Serena Hotel, Eka Hotel or a similar hotel.

Nairobi to the Maasai Mara National Reserve

An early breakfast, then the drive to the Maasai Mara (about 5-6 hours). Check in at the lodge or camp, have lunch and go out on an afternoon game drive. Dinner and the night at Mara Serena Safari Lodge, Basecamp Mara or similar.

A full day in the Maasai Mara

A game drive at first light, followed by breakfast. A full-day game drive with a picnic lunch, or back to the lodge for lunch. A visit to a Maasai village is available at extra cost. Dinner and the night at the lodge or camp.

Maasai Mara to the Serengeti (Tanzania)

Breakfast early, then the drive to the Isebania border. Immigration formalities and a change of vehicle for the transfer into the Serengeti. Lunch on the way, then an afternoon game drive in the northern or central Serengeti. Dinner and the night at Serengeti Serena Lodge, Sound of Silence Camp or similar.

A full day in the Serengeti

A sunrise game drive, then breakfast. A day exploring the Serengeti, looking for the Great Migration (depending on the season). A picnic lunch and an afternoon game drive. Dinner and the night at the lodge or camp.

Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater

A morning game drive in the Serengeti before continuing to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Lunch at the lodge and a free afternoon with views over the crater. Dinner and the night at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or Rhino Lodge.

Ngorongoro to Arusha and on to Zanzibar

An early descent into the Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive. A picnic lunch, then the road transfer to Arusha (about 3-4 hours). The overnight ferry to Zanzibar, or an optional flight if you prefer to skip the long journey. Arrival in Stone Town and transfer to a beach hotel. Night at Zanzibar Serena Hotel, Zuri Zanzibar or similar.

A beach day in Zanzibar

A free day to unwind on the beach. Optional extras: Snorkelling or diving at Mnemba Atoll. A spice tour or a visit to Stone Town. Night at the beach resort.
