Lake Nakuru National Park
This four-day private safari runs from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park and the Maasai Mara National Reserve and back, with nights in good mid-luxury lodges that are usually inside or close to the two parks. Over three nights and four days you travel by road from Nairobi and head out on game drives in each park, with a chance to see East Africa’s Big Five: lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo. A complimentary visit to a Maasai village may be included, where you meet the Maasai, the most prolific tribe in Kenya. At Lake Nakuru, look out for great flocks of flamingos and the world’s largest populations of black and white rhino.
We collect you early in the morning from your hotel or home in Nairobi, or from the airport, and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, reaching the lodge in time to check in and have lunch. The afternoon game drive takes you around the ‘pink lake’, named for the huge numbers of flamingos that gather here, and in search of the park’s well-known white and black rhinos. Lake Nakuru is home to Kenya’s first rhino sanctuary, holds one of the world’s largest concentrations of black rhino and has a large white rhino population too.
After a hearty breakfast you check out. If your hotel is inside the park, the drive to the exit gate doubles as a final game drive at Lake Nakuru. From there you continue to the Maasai Mara, arriving in time to check in and have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon you can take an optional walk to a Maasai village, or simply rest and settle into safari life.
The whole day is spent in the Maasai Mara, the most popular game reserve in Kenya and the best place to look for the Big Five: lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant. Game drives are flexible. You can take picnic lunch boxes and stay out in the reserve all day, or go out early in the morning and again in the late afternoon.
After a generous breakfast you check out of the lodge and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the evening. We drop you at the airport or your hotel, ready for whatever comes next.
